# What is the Assessor role

> An overview of what Assessors do in AngelHub and when they are active.

## The Assessor's job

The Assessor is the first person to review an entrepreneur's application after it is submitted. Their job is to decide whether a company is ready to pitch to the angel group — not whether to invest in it.

The Assessor is acting as a quality filter: is this application complete, coherent, and sufficiently developed to be worth the group's time at a pitch event?

## When Assessors are active

* **Created** — the application has just been submitted
* **Screening** — the Assessor is actively reviewing
* **Pitching** — the company has been invited to pitch; the Assessor may continue to support before handing over to a Project Lead

Once a project moves to Due Diligence, the Assessor's role ends.

## What Assessors can see and do

Available on all plans:

* View all applications in the Created, Screening, and Pitching stages
* Review the entrepreneur's submission in full
* Use the screening framework (8 dimensions) to assess readiness
* Ask the entrepreneur clarifying questions via the Q\&A tool
* Move an application from Created to Screening, or from Screening to Pitching
* Decline an application at any stage
* Use AngelAI (subject to the group's monthly AI response limit)
* Project Discussion — the shared team conversation on each deal
* Send group emails to members

<Note>
  **AI response limits:** Free groups have 50 responses per month across the whole group; Pro groups have 150; Scale groups have unlimited access.
</Note>

<Note>
  **Lead review generation** — an AI-generated structured review of the entrepreneur's submission — is available on the **Scale plan** only. Free and Pro Assessors see the coverage map and opportunity summary but not the full AI-generated review.
</Note>

## Typical Assessor workflow

1. Receive notification that a new application has been submitted
2. Open the application and read the entrepreneur's submission
3. Move the application to Screening
4. Optionally generate a coverage map and lead review (Scale plan)
5. Work through the [screening framework](/assessor/screening-framework)
6. Ask the entrepreneur any clarifying questions via Q\&A
7. Move to Pitching or decline with a recorded reason

See [Reviewing an application](/assessor/reviewing-an-application) for the step-by-step process.
