The pipeline is the backbone of AngelHub — it tracks where every application is in your process, from first submission through to investment or decline.

How the pipeline works

Every application enters the pipeline at the Created stage when an entrepreneur submits it. It then moves through stages as your team assesses it. Each stage gives different team members access to different tools. The default six stages are:
1

Created

The application has been submitted and is awaiting initial review by an Assessor.
2

Screening

An Assessor is reviewing the application against your screening criteria.
3

Pitching

The company has been invited to pitch to the group. A Project Lead can be assigned.
4

Due Diligence

Active DD is underway. AngelAI, the coverage map, and work packages are all available. A £50 charge applies when a project enters this stage (Pro and Scale plans).
5

Closing

The group has decided to invest. Legal documentation and completion are in progress.
6

Completed

The investment has completed. The project moves to your portfolio.

Renaming stages

On all plans, you can rename pipeline stages to match your group’s terminology. Go to Settings → Pipeline → Stage names. Common alternatives:
  • “Screening” → “Initial review” or “Assessment”
  • “Pitching” → “Pitch stage” or “Presentation”
  • “Closing” → “Legal” or “Completion”
Renaming a stage affects all existing projects immediately. Rename stages before you have live projects, or inform your team when you make a change.

Moving projects between stages

Any admin or the assigned Project Lead can move a project to the next stage. To move a project:
  1. Open the project
  2. Click Move to next stage in the project header
  3. Confirm the move
Some stage transitions trigger specific actions:
  • Moving to Pitching — you are prompted to assign a Project Lead
  • Moving to Due Diligence — a £50 charge is applied to your card on file (Pro and Scale plans). You must accept this charge before the project moves.
  • Moving to Completed — the project is archived to your portfolio

Declining an application

At any stage, an admin or Assessor can decline an application. Go to the project and select Decline from the project menu. You’ll be asked to record a brief reason — this is stored internally and not shared with the entrepreneur unless you choose to. Declined applications move to the Declined archive. They are retained for GDPR purposes and can be fully deleted after the statutory retention period.

Closing vs archiving

Closed projects are investments that completed successfully — they move to your portfolio. Archived projects are applications that did not proceed for any reason (declined, withdrawn, or stalled). They are kept for reference but removed from your active pipeline view. You can view both from Projects → Closed and Projects → Archived.

Pipeline analytics

On Pro and Scale plans, the Analytics tab shows your pipeline health — conversion rates between stages, average time in each stage, and a breakdown of decline reasons. This helps you identify where applications are stalling and how your screening process is performing over time.
