The Project Lead’s job

The Project Lead is the angel investor who takes primary responsibility for a deal from the pitch stage through to completion. They coordinate due diligence, communicate with the entrepreneur, present findings to the group, and manage the process through to investment or decline. The Project Lead is a coordinator and synthesiser — their job is to organise the group’s collective assessment and present it in a way that enables a clear investment decision.

When Project Leads are active

  • Pitching — attending the pitch, coordinating post-pitch discussion
  • Due Diligence — running the full DD process, using AngelAI
  • Closing — managing the legal and completion process
  • Completed — recording final investment details

What Project Leads can see and do

Available on all plans:
  • The entrepreneur’s full submission and all Q&A history
  • The AngelAI chat (with DD context)
  • The coverage map
  • Cross-document consistency analysis
  • EIS/SEIS reference content
  • The ability to move the project between stages
  • Project discussion — a shared thread for the deal team (admins, assessors, leads, and angels)
  • Send group emails to members
Private notes are available on Pro and Scale plans. Custom AI content and the ability to send from your own domain are Scale-only features.

The Project Lead and the group

At the end of due diligence, the Project Lead presents a structured recommendation using the WNTBB framework — setting out the key assumptions that need to be true for the investment to succeed, the evidence for and against each, and a clear recommendation.

Typical Project Lead workflow

  1. Assigned at the Pitching stage by the admin
  2. Attend or coordinate the pitch event
  3. Initiate due diligence — move to DD (£50 charge applies on all plans)
  4. Run DD using AngelAI and the coverage map
  5. Coordinate angels taking responsibility for specific DD areas via project discussion
  6. Prepare and present the WNTBB summary
  7. Manage the closing process if the group decides to invest
